Principal charged for theft of trust property

December 28 and failure to do so would attract a 15-day jail term.
Cuthbert Zvomuya (40) of Zengeza 5 was given US$112 for examination and centre fees by Tabeth Chikava to register her six subjects.

Zvomuya went on to cash in US$88 and pocketed the difference, which resulted in Chikava getting registered for four subjects instead of six.

He denied theft of trust property charges when he appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

Ms Mugwagwa convicted him after prosecutor Ms Tafadzwa Makwande proved a case against him.
In addition, Zvomuya had 30 days of his sentence suspended on condition he restitutes Chikava of US$24.

In passing sentence, Ms Mugwagwa considered that Zvomuya disadvantaged the student.
Circumstances were that on an unknown date but in April, Chikava paid US$112 to Zvomuya as registration for six ordinary level examinations.
He, however, converted US$24 to his own use and remitted cash for four subjects only.
