GOVERNMENT officials and other stakeholders in Mashonaland West province should strive for sustainable and inclusive development, Mashonand West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo has said.
Speaking at a mid-year review meeting for provincial heads, Minister Chombo said there was a need to promote environmentally conscious economic development.

“Moreso, we need to prioritise sustainable development practices – balancing economic growth with environmental protection,” she said.
“Initiatives should be socially responsible, environmentally friendly, and inclusive, ensuring that no community or stakeholder is left behind.”

Priority, she said, should be given to strengthening health systems, education and skills development, digital transformation and resource mobilisation.

“We should embrace ICT to improve service delivery, transparency, and citizen engagement. There is also a need to explore innovative ways to finance development projects-public-private partnerships, donor funding, and community participation,” Minister Chombo said.

She said Ministries, departments and agencies in the province should be adaptive to the rapidly changing world and embrace innovation and new ideas.
“Above all, our leadership must exemplify integrity, transparency, and accountability. These principles build trust, ensure responsible resource management, and foster a culture of good governance that citizens can rely on,” said Minister Chombo.

Acting provincial permanent secretary Mr Douglas Chiwiro said the meeting helped in fine-tuning the Government’s operations to meet the province’s development priorities.
