PRISON OFFICER, WHO BROKE INTO GOVT COMPLEX, JAILED

THE  Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services officer, who turned himself into a specialist in breaking into Mgandane Dlodlo Building (New Government Complex) in Harare, has been jailed for seven years.

Two years were suspended, which means he will serve an affective five years.

Kwandokuhle Ndethi broke into several offices at Mgandane Dlodlo Building and stole several HP brand computer components, including monitors, CPUs, printers and a power cable.

The court heard that on March 27, Ndethi broke into the Attorney’s General’s office at Mgandane Dlodlo Building and stole an HP monitor and two printers.

Ndethi also broke into the offices of the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education at Mgandane Dlodlo Building on April 1, 3, and 5 and stole various assortment of HP computers and printers.

The court proved that on April 2 he also broke into the offices of the Ministry of Finance and Investment Promotion and stole an assortment of HP computers and printers.

The total value of property stolen was US$8 350 and everything was recovered.
