TWO prisoners at Hwahwa Prison entered into the hall of shame when they were caught engaging in sodomy by other inmates. The two, Pardon Musindo, 21, and Taurai Pikitai (age not given) appeared before Gweru Magistrate Sithembiso Ncube yesterday to answer a charge of sodomy.
They both pleaded guilty to the charge and were further remanded in custody to tomorrow for continuation of trial.
Prosecuting, Pasoh Muringani said on June 14 last year, the two were watching soccer from a television set at the prison canteen in the evening.
He said Musindo and Pikitai decided to get away from the crowd and be intimate in their cell.
The two’s plans were overhead by some inmates who later told Gift Chikukutu, a fellow prisoner.
Muringani said Chikukutu and other inmates then came up with a plan to catch the pair in the act.
Chikukutu teamed up with Funny Mpandhle and Cephas Goreresa and went to the pair’s cell.
They witnessed the two engaging in sex.
Chikukutu then alerted prison officers who immediately made a report to the police leading to the pair’s arrest.
