Private school to offer bright pupils scholarships

A private school in Harare, Champion College, has unveiled a scholarship programme for its pupils who excel in O Level to pursue their studies at the school in A- Level.

The school’s chief executive officer, Dr Tendesai Mushamba, said this was part of their corporate social responsibility programme aimed at encouraging pupils to excel.

Speaking at a prize giving at the school this week, Dr Mushamba said: “We have decided introduce this scholarship programme as a way of encouraging students to work hard to achieve outstanding results.

“We are also implementing infrastructural development and other progressive initiatives to complement Government’s efforts in upgrading infrastructural utilities in line with the country’s national development goals.

“We are also helping in beautifying road islands in the CBD as part of our corporate social responsibility programme.”

The school was maintaining a traffic island along Jason Moyo Avenue between First Street Mall and Sam Nujoma Street as part of their contribution to ensure that the city was clean.

Speaking at the event, Harare District Schools Inspector for Mbare and Hatfield, Mr Absalom Chinoona, thanked the college for playing an integral part in complementing Government’s effort of produce quality education in line with Vision 2030.

“We thank the college for complementing Government’s efforts to provide quality education. As we have heard, the college is also offering scholarships to the students who perform well in their O- Level exams and we are happy that they are also involved in efforts to beautify the city,” said Mr Chinoona.
