show tickets, smartphones and laptops as well as other phone accessories from CellOne Electronics, a supplier of handsets and computers.
CellOne have been running a competition in the build-up to the show where fans were asked questions about the show in our sister paper H-Metro.
The winners will be given their prizes at the show which is co-hosted by CellOne Electronics and Ghetto Fabulous, a promotions company.
Music and dance, the heart of the show, come from performing artistes of the likes of Zahara, the Sama winner, superstar Mtukudzi, Alexio as well as afro-fusion group Mokoomba.
Zahara who has collaborated with our very own George Munetsi on “Incwad’encane” is an amazing performer.
George, who is a revered radio personality who once worked with the then Radio 3, laced his Shona lyrics adding a local flavour to it.
Besides the collaboration with “George Pogie” as he is often called, Zahara has other enjoyable tracks such as “Ndize”, “Loliwe”, “Lengoma”, “Destiny” and “Umthwalo” among others. Coming back to homeland, fans will be pleased to know that Mtukudzi or simply Tuku is trying to record a duet with Zahara. If that comes to fruition then fans should prepare for a surefire hit.
Tuku has done a number of collaborations and all of them have become instant hits. For instance, he did a song with Ringo, Afro Tenors, Jaziel Brothers, Mahube, Eric Wainaina as well as locally with Suluman Chimbetu. Perhaps if you are looking for duets and other songs why don’t you get hold of the compilation album “Abi’angu”.
One good thing about Tuku’s music is that every show is different because he has 60 albums to his credit. For him, it is really a question of preference, he might take you back in time playing some of his early recordings or somewhere during his middle age to the most recent tracks.
Another great performer is Alexio who has earned the respect of music lovers for his well thought out songs. Alexio has proved to all and sundry that he is not a one-hit wonder after releasing more hits after the success of the single “Shaina”.
On the other hand, Mokoomba a group from Victoria Falls, has made a name for itself on the international music scene after touring most countries in Europe. Their music is uniquely Zimbabwean which appeals to a crossover audience.
This is a show not to be missed!
