Pro50 Championship regional squads named

ZIMBABWE Cricket have announced regional squads after the successful completion of the 2022/23 Pro50 Championship last Saturday. 

The two teams, Southerns and Northerns are made up of 14 players each with Tuskers, who finished fourth in the Pro50 Championship contributing six players. Walter Chawaguta, the Tuskers head coach and bowling coach Christopher Mpofu also made the cut in the teams. 

Chawaguta and Mpofu will be part of the Southerns technical team, with the former being the head coach, assisted by Adam Chifo while Mpofu will be the team manager. Stan Chioza is the bowling coach. 

In the Northens team, Douglas Hondo has been named head coach and will be assisted by Njabulo Ncube who won the title with Mountaineers. The team manager is Shingi Masakadza.

Ainsley Ndlovu, Nkosana Mpofu, Tanunurwa Makoni, Brian Chari, Tafara Mpariwa and Ernest Masuku are the Tuskers players who made the cut. Masuku will be the only one turning out for Southerns as his teammates made the Northerns team.

The matches are scheduled for Saturday, Monday and Wednesday at Queens Sports Club.

Northerns: Tadiwanashe Marumani, Brian Mudzinganyama, Chamu Chibhabha, Nkosana Mpofu, Spencer Magodo, Tanunurwa Makoni, William Mashinge, Ainsley Ndlovu, Donald Tiripano, Tanaka Chivanga, Faraz Akram, Brian Chari, Tarisai Musakanda, Tafara Mupariwa.

Southerns: Takudzwanaishe Kaitano, Kevin Kasuza, Cephas Zhuawo, Johnathan Campbell , Charles Kunje, Timycen Maruma, Richmond Mutumbami, Brandon Mavuta, Carl Mumba, Ernest Masuku, Victor Nyauchi, Tinashe Muchawaya, Tafadzwa Tsiga, Keith Jaure
