PROFEEDS company on Monday lost US$11 284 to armed robbers in Southerton.
Four armed men were reported to have stormed at the main gate guard room, wearing balaclavas and they instructed the two Black Shark security guards who were manning the gate to remain silent.
They allegedly gained entry by removing two panels from the south facing wall and there is a railway line behind that wall. When the armed robbers arrived at the main gate, one of the security guards managed to press the panic button and he was hit on the forehead with a hammer.
The robbers took other two security guards, who were manning other bays at Profeeds and they tied them with shoe laces. One of the robbers was monitoring the tied guards whilst the other gained entry into the premises.
Harare provincial police spokesperson Inspector Luckmore Chakanza confirmed the case.
“Police are investigating an armed robbery case at a company in Southerton.
“The accused persons gained entry into the shop, used explosives to blast the safe and stole US$11 284 and went away,” said Insp Chakanza.
