Digital education solution provider, eLearning Solutions unveiled the Professional Digital Skills Passport at a breakfast meeting in Harare on Tuesday
The digital passport is a programme targeting both the corporate and individuals for the purpose of bridging the technological divide by empowering them with computer driving skills.
With thousands of employees and students still struggling to grasp basic computing fundamentals, this programme will assist many to advance their digital skills.
Speaking during the official unveiling of the product, the eLearning Solutions chief executive Mr Itai Misimirembwa said “the e-learning package will be given to organisations for free and installed on their servers while the employees in their individual capacities will be required to pay for their own tuition.”
Individuals will be required to pay $11,50 per module while the complete course has a total of 10 modules covering basic computing fundamentals and intermediary skills for beginners and employees, who in most cases need the basic computing appreciation.
The breakfast meeting was attended by various CEOs and decision makers in both the private and public sector.
Mr Misimirembwa said most of the individuals who are above 40 often have difficulties in adjusting to this highly digital environment.
The new digital skills passport will pose as an aggressive competitor to the traditional International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) as it brings in updated curriculum, covering the latest Microsoft Office packages and social media modules amongst others.
The eLearning Solutions package will be given to any organisation for free and hosted on the local server for the company. The organisation, which has been in Zimbabwe for over a decade provides training equipment for people who want to learn about digital platforms.

The digital education solution provider has pioneered digital learning at Chogugudza School and carried out training for financial institutions, manufacturing and telecoms employees.
In the public sector, they have trained 3 000 Government school teachers so far, Zimra employees and thousands from the consumer market.
They have also provided packages for Gateway School, St Georges Colleges and Ruzawi Primary School.
The digital skills passport is a package that has international endorsement from Cisco Networks and Intel education, which are among the world’s best technological companies.
