Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, Professor Mthuli Ncube, is currently attending the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4), which began on Monday in the historic city of Sevilla and runs until Thursday.
The high-level global forum convenes heads of government, international and regional financial institutions, trade organisations, business leaders, civil society, and representatives from the United Nations system.
It remains the only platform where such a diverse and influential cross-section of global actors gathers to forge consensus on the future of development financing.
This year’s conference comes at a critical juncture, as countries worldwide accelerate efforts to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) amidst mounting economic pressures and a shifting global financial landscape.
For countries such as Zimbabwe, Spain, and Egypt, the conference presents a unique opportunity to highlight their strategic commitment to the SDGs and articulate their national approaches to advancing inclusive and sustainable growth.
The dialogue also emphasises the need for stronger partnerships and broader engagement among UN Member States.
Professor Ncube is expected to contribute to discussions on reforming the global financial architecture and mobilising resources to support transformative development outcomes.
The conference will also address emerging global challenges and propose innovative financing models aimed at closing the widening development gap.
