The musician has been enjoying a new lease of life and is expected to continue with his fine form which has seen him rekindling his love with his fans. The “Tsiurika” hitmaker has been concentrating on shows since the time he said he was discouraged to record new albums because of piracy.
“When you think of piracy, you feel used because you work for nothing. “However, for the sake of my loyal fans I will drop a new song from the upcoming album ‘Ndoenda Harare’ which I think is a good project,” said Chipfumo.
He said he wanted to prove his critics wrong that he was no spent force.
“People have been making a lot of unfounded allegations, eeh Proggie apera (Progress is now a spent force) and I hope this album will go a long way in setting the record straight,” he said.
From the time he released his debut album, “Progress Report”, after leaving the Portia Gwanzura-led Hohodza Band, he has continued to rise steadily.
Three other equally good albums followed earning him a place among some of the country’s renowned musicians.
It was actually his fourth album, “Tsiurika”, which clearly showed that Chipfumo was indeed a talented guitarist and composer, whose lyrics were didactic while at the same time pointing out social ills that continue to haunt the nation.
