launched the nutrition garden. The project is a community based nutrition garden project with 80 beneficiaries, mainly widows residing in Tafara and Mabvuku.

Zanu-PF Central Committee member Cde Noah Mangondo said the nutrition garden project was one of the numerous projects aimed at improving the livelihoods of widows.

Cde Mangondo who is also the Roots in Zimbabwe Trust president said his organisation provided the women with seeds, seedlings and manure for the garden. “This programme is meant to empower women so they can make a living and be able to provide for themselves and even send their children to school,” he said.

Women Affairs Ministry deputy director Cde Wisdom Karonga said they had established a nationwide internal savings and lending programme. This would assist the women to save profits from this project.
