Promoter of the year endorses Jam Session

Arts Correspondent
Reigning National Arts Merit Awards promoter of the year Daniel Masaiti of Marondera has applauded organisers of the weekly Jam Session at City Sports Bar for their efforts to give various musicians a platform to shine.

Masaiti will tonight grace the Jam Session to show solidarity with Divine Assignments, the organisers of the session and offer his advice to musicians that will perform at the event.

“I have heard about the Jam Session and I am happy that such a programme has given musicians a platform to shine. Some forgotten musicians and upcoming musicians are rarely given platforms to perform,” he said.

“This idea is good and promoters should support each other in celebrating talent. It becomes a problem when promoters jostle for popular musicians in order to make money and forget other musicians that also want to make a living out of their art. I will be at the session to show my solidarity with organisers of the good programme.”

Masaiti won the promoter of the year award for his contribution in uplifting unknown musicians from around Marondera and giving them a platform to share the stage with established artists.

Jam Session hosts many musicians that come on stage at one session to showcase their talents in a relaxed way.

Musicians like Elijah Madzikatire, Paradzai Mesi, Nicholas Zakaria, Kireni Zulu, Hosiah Chipanga and Dino Mudondo have performed at the event.

Biggie Chinoperekwei of Divine Assignments said they will continue inviting musicians from various backgrounds to showcase their talent.

“We host musicians of all genres and we are happy the programme has been received well. This is a platform for musicians to mix and share ideas. It is also a platform for musicians to sharpen their talent in front of fans without any pressure. The response to the programme has been encouraging and we are happy that the current promoter of the year has endorsed the programme,” said Chinoperekwei.
