spiritually blessed and that the majority of people are Christians whose faith in Jesus Christ is fast growing as reflected by the numbers that throng several churches dotted around the city.
Gone are the days when we watched evangelical programmes by preachers from as far as the United Kingdom or the United States. I remember way back ZBCTV used to only screen sermons by the late John Osteen and Joice Meyer but that has since changed as more and more local churches take centre stage not only on Sunday evenings, but every other day.
Now we have our sons of the soil who are taking a leading role in praising and lifting the name of the Lord higher.
Last week, Miracle TV, which exclusively broadcasts live from Harare to the outside world, has become one of the firm favourite gospel channels on free-to-air satellite television channels.
The channel plays host to the fiery and unapologetic Prophet Uebert Angel, whose mandate is simply to be a servant of God.
You got to admit that Prophet Angel has “pimped up” the gospel by bringing the bling bling and razzmatazz to the ministry. So when I tuned into Miracle TV it was all the more surprising that what I saw on television during the past weeks was exactly what I got when I attended a church service held at Spirit Embassy at the Harare Showgrounds.
The Sunday preaching had to do with “Mary Blessing” as what Prophet Angel or Major as he is lovingly referred to by members of his church, called it.
Major Prophet went deeper preaching on how the “Mary Blessing” would “equip you with tactics and strategies to be number one in life”.
It was a short sermon but a powerful one in the sense that before the service started, people had already testified the good things that the mighty name of Jesus
had impacted positively in their lives.
Speaker after speaker confessed that the wonder working miracle of Jesus through Major Prophet had changed their lives not only for good but for the better.
The speakers included those from Namibia, Zambia, Malawi, South Africa and even Nigeria.
This was surprising because we know of many Zimbabweans who have been to Nigeria and many are still trying to visit that country to see TB Joshua.
Now imagine, there are other people who are already coming to Zimbabwe to meet Major Prophet including Nigeria where there are the likes of TB Joshua’s and Pastors Chris.
One Nigerian couple resident in Zimbabwe testified that after close to 16 years of trying to have their first child, the woman finally conceived after prayers from Major Prophet.
Such miracles and testimonies only show the greatness of the Mighty Lord.
There is no doubt Major Prophet has the gift of the gab such that when he gets on the pulpit he serenades you with his anointing.
The way he prophesied on television was nothing short of supernatural.
For instance, through a phone call he was able to prophesy what was happening to a woman who was in Manchester and that woman confirmed the prophecy live on the television.
One of the well-documented prophesies which was posted on Spirit Embassy website was the one in which Major announced the results of the FA Cup match in which Chelsea beat Bayern Munich 2-1. The prophecy was made five hours before kick-off time during a service before the whole congregation:
“Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea . . . How can God talk about football . . . and how am I able to see that the difference in score will be one and how am I able to see that the score will be 2:1 how? Because you see I see 2:1,” he was quoted as saying and also described how the deciding goal would be scored. That prophecy came to pass.
According to Major “prophecy proves that God exists. If God can show what football team will win the FA Cup to a prophet who is not even a soccer fan then he knows even the smallest of your issues and all your problems he is ready to solve.”
“Prophet Uebert Angel has become synonymous with miracles, healing, signs, wonders and accurate prophecies. A look at his biography says that “when he talks about the power of God to prosper believers he really is unapologetic . . . declares that if God had chosen works rather than grace, he would have not been worthy of the mercy”.
One of the things that he is known for is that he speaks “less of me and more of Him (Jesus).”
Apparently during his Sunday service he also broke the news that he had been given an ambassadorial role as the UN (Polac) Peace Ambassador and gave thanks to members of his church for their support.
The award was received on his behalf by Pastor Brian Angel on June 9, 2012. With prophets like Major it is easy to understand why Zimbabwe is a blessed country!
