NEW Women’s Soccer League sponsor and football’s all-weather friend Prophet Walter Magaya feels Herentals Queens can punch well in the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa qualifier that bursts into life at Mpira Stadium in Malawi this afternoon.
Herentals, who are in Group A, and debuting the tournament, get the ball rolling with a date against Namibia’s FC Ongos at 12pm.
Only the winners of the eight-team tournament will progress to the CAF Women’s Champions League final contest to be held in October.
And just a day before his Heart Group of Companies unveil a mega-US$320 000 sponsorship that will breath fresh life into the ever-suffering ZWSL, Prophet Magaya said Herentals Queens can walk tall in this competition
“I love Zimbabwe football and I wish all the best to our representatives in the CAF Women’s Champions League Cosafa Qualifier Herentals Queens.
“I have no doubt in their capabilities as they have demonstrated their abilities in the local league over the past two seasons,” said Prophet Magaya.
“I know they will do very well. They just need to focus on the job at hand and have unity of purpose.
“May success follow them in every step of the way. As they embark on this new journey, I want them to know that I have every confidence in their abilities.
“They are capable, talented, and driven, and have all the qualities necessary to achieve greatness. So go out there and make it happen! Remember to stay focused, stay motivated, and always keep your eye on the prize.
“Raise our flag high and don’t forget all Zimbabweans are counting on you and rallying behind you,” he said.
Herentals Queens will line up in a 4-3-3 structure with veteran goalkeeper Lindiwe Magwede keeping the goals while Bridget Mutaurwa, Egness Tumbare, Talent Mukwanda and Alice Moyo form a block in front of her.
Hard tacklers Yeukai Chipatiko and Nyasha Munemo as well as the unrelenting Shyline Dambamuromo will deploy in midfield with captain Polite Mabika and Maudy Mafuruse playing in the wings and Praynence Zvawanda taking a central role.
