Propol gala set for Gwanda

Loveness Mangena of the ZRP Provincial Press and Public Relations department said the tournament would be held on 3 March and there would be about 300 participants drawn from all the three policing districts of Matabeleland South.
“We will have at least 300 police officers from Gwanda, Bulilimangwe and Beitbridge participating in various sporting disciplines, which include soccer, angling (fishing), netball, volleyball, snooker, cricket, chess, darts, tug-of-war and bodybuilding,” she said.
The winners will represent the province at the forthcoming Commissioner-General’s Sports Gala scheduled for April in Harare.
“As ZRP, we are saying the main thrust behind such tournaments is to ensure that our staff remains physically fit in line with the nature of our job. We also want our officers to have a clear mind and maintain their focus on their work so that they are able to conduct their duties diligently,” said Mangena.
The Propol’s Sports Gala is an annual event hosted by all the 10 provinces throughout the country.
Mangena said the winners in the Comm-General’s Sports Gala would then represent the country in the SARPCCO regional games in Namibia later this year.
SARPCCO games are an annual sporting event on the police calendar, which involves law enforcers from all countries in the Sadc region.
