in Zvikupu Village under Chief Mukangano in Bikita.
Mugaviri died on Thursday afternoon at his home in Chitungwiza Unit B after succumbing to lung cancer.
A family spokesperson, Mr Johnson Wushe said that Mr Mugaviri was ill for a short time and was once admitted but later discharged from hospital.
He described Mugaviri’s death as a huge blow to the family.
“The untimely death of our dear brother is a big blow to the family. We never came to know about his illness. We were only notified by the doctor that he was suffering from lung cancer,” said Wushe.
Acting director of the public prosecutions, Mr Tawanda Zvekare said that Mr Mugaviri’s death was a great loss to both the family and the judiciary.
“We have lost a disciplined and hardworking officer who served the State for nine years. It is a great loss not only to the Mugaviri family, but to the whole nation,” he said.
Born on April 24, 1980 in Bikita, Mr Mugaviri enrolled at the Judicial College and completed his certificate in prosecution in the year 2003.
In 2004, he joined the public prosecution and was working at Chitungwiza Magistrates’ Courts as a criminal prosecutor and later elevated to regional prosecutor.
Mugaviri is survived by his wife Constance and two children.
