On 10 September last year, Mloyi and Petronella Ncube (46) met at Queens Compound Bar at the shopping centre where they were drinking beer.
Ncube was in the company of a friend Innoncier Mpofu while Mloyi was with his friend, Cleopas Moyo.
The quartet agreed to be intimate, Mloyi with Ncube while his friend was to be with Mpofu, who had come all the way from Emakhandeni in Bulawayo. They agreed on a fee of $5 for their services.
After the payment of the fees, the love birds went to separate areas in the bush, but they had agreed that they would meet at the shopping centre.
Once Moyo and Mpofu were through, they went back to the shopping centre and waited for their friends.
After about 45 minutes, Moyo and Mpofu heard Ncube screaming for help and they rushed to the scene and found Mloyi holding Ncube close to him but he let go of her when he saw them approaching.
Mpofu rushed back to the shopping centre to look for help and came back in the company of two security guards.
When they returned to the scene, Mloyi and Moyo had disappeared and they discovered that Ncube was already dead.
In his defence, Mloyi, through his lawyer, Mr Elvis Mashindi, of Mashindi and Associates claimed that Ncube threatened to shoot him and that he felt threatened and had to act in self defence.
According to the post-mortem report produced in court as an exhibit by Ms Nonhlanhla Ndlovu of the Attorney-General’s Office, Ncube died of haemorrhagic shock as a result of multiple stab wounds.
