administrator Mr Alfred Tome said the province was putting final touches on the preparations.
Heroes Day will be marked on Monday, while the Defence Forces Day is on the following day.
The main National Heroes Day will be commemorated at the National Heroes Acre after the burial of the ashes of national hero Cde Kantibhai Gordanbhai Patel on the same day. Cde Patel died in September last year and was cremated at Pioneer Cemetery that same month.
The main Defence Forces Day commemorations will be held at the National Sports Stadium.
President Mugabe will officiate at both events. Said Mr Tome: “That special hour is near and its all systems go on Monday. Everything necessary for the event is in place.
“Our preparations have progressed on well and I am glad a few days before the event we are only left with putting final touches on the preparations.”
The commemorations in Harare will run concurrently with events in all the country’s 10 provinces with provincial governors officiating and reading the Presidential speech.
Mr Tome urged patriotic Zimbabweans to attend the events in numbers saying they held special significance to the country’s nationhood.
“For us to enjoy the freedom we have today it is because of these fallen heroes. Without them, we would not be where we are. Our defence forces are also important because they protect our sovereignty on daily basis,” he said.
He said youths should also attend the events as they were the future leaders of the country.
“We want them (youths) not only to witness the day, but to get wise words from leaders like President Mugabe,” he said.
Mr Tome said the ZDF were finalising their rehearsals for drills to be performed on the Defence Forces Day.
He said 30 buses would be available from the usual pick-up points to ferry people free of charge to the venues over the two days. On Tuesday, people would be entertained by a live performance from Alick Macheso and a soccer match in the afternoon.
The soccer match will pit a Zimbabwe Defence Forces select team against their counterparts from Zambia.
