MASHONALAND Turf Club have released a provisional list of 10 runners ahead of the ZRP Charity Sable Flyers Listed Race meeting set for running on Saturday at Borrowdale Racecourse.
The Sable Flyers has a declared stake money of S$30 000 for giving away to the winning connection as well as the next selected runners to fly past the winning post.
According to the MTC racing manger Betina Gurajena, the next phase is the acceptance stage set for tomorrow at the same venue in the morning.
The accepted runners from three stables will battle over 1 260m to separate the winner from pretenders to the throne.
According to the list pushed out, the most outstanding horse in terms of merit rating is In the Mood (80) from the yard of Kirk Swanson.
If the equine makes it to the final list this will be the runner to keep an eye on alongside two more highly rated equines from this list of course, trained by Bridget Stidolph namely Lilly Blue as well as Prescott both merit rated (68).
In addition to this contest there is an additional six more minor races to warm the race course before the big one roars into life.
A total of sixty nominees have been thrown into the hat to fight for all the available places up for grabs.
Meanwhile last week trainers Thomas Mason of Tomcat Racing resumed his horse racing career on a high note after sending out three winners in different assignments on the day.
According to reports his most outstanding winner on the day was Arte ridden by apprentice jockey Ashton Arries who put up a thrilling finish to deliver the 2700m Sunshine Cup to his stable.
Arte was judged to be a marginal 0.05 lengths ahead of second placed Heir Line in indication of how close the race was.
Earlier in the afternoon another runner Crown Brewed ridden by Serino Moodley scored big over 1200m to win MR 50 Handicap.
Not to be outdone stable mate Battle Cry was involved in a tight finish with Prairie Sky in a 1 700m MR 55 Handicap to signal his return to the big stage.
