Provisional Stitsha cast selected

Qhube productions director, Sihlangu Dlodlo, revealed this yesterday adding that the boot camp is to be used to come up with the final cast of 12 performing artistes for the play.

He said it was unfortunate that some actors do not value auditions but think they would be chosen regardless.

“We have had problems with people who think that their talent is enough to be chosen and shun auditions.

“As professionals they should be mindful that auditions not only showcase your talent but show the attitude that one has towards their work,” said Dlodlo.

He said seasoned artistes such as Nomathamsanqa Mkhwananzi and Thulani Mbambo took time to  come to the auditions showing their level of professionalism.

Dlodlo said the performing artistes would go through a two-week intensive physical training to  tone their bodies for the demanding stage play rehearsals.

“They will do this as they prepare for the music night pencilled for next week Thursday after which there will be a dance night at the end of the month.

“This will enable us to choose the final cast of 12 that we shall work with,” he said.

Dlodlo said the talent identified from the auditions was more than expected and would make the production exciting.

“We have come to the second part of the production. The talent that was identified to a very large extent was more than we expected.

“We shall have a memorable production of Stitsha,” he said.

Dlodlo thanked sponsors for their immense contribution to the production.

Chronicle Entertainment observed performing artistes hard at work at a city gym, with a fitness trainer taking them through their paces.

All the artistes said they wanted to impress and promised fireworks at the dance and music nights.

Auditions for Stitsha were done last Sunday and Monday at Amakhosi Cultural Centre, with organisers impressed with the level of talent exhibited.

Judges at the auditions included Memory Kumbota, who looked at drama, Luis Ndlovu and John Gara (music), Matesu Dube (theatre) and Dlodlo, who is the director of Qhube Productions, the organisers of the auditions.
