PSC audit verification begins

Skills audit report released last year.

In a statement yesterday, PSC said the verification exercise would cover all public servants and commissioners.
“The Public Service Commission will be visiting provincial and district offices as well as work stations around the country between October 24 and November 15, 2011.”

“In this regard, public servants and all workstations are notified to expect Public Service commissioners at their workstations throughout the country between 24 October and 15 November 2011.”
Cabinet directed that the verification of the civil service audit report be conducted by all stakeholders after the PSC dismissed the initial report by auditors from Ernest and Young of India.
The PSC argued that the report was flawed.

The report revealed that there were ghost workers.
The PSC urged heads of stations and all government employees to give maximum co-operation for the success of this verification exercise. The PSC said they were taking corrective measures as had been announced by President Mugabe during the official opening of Parliament last month.
The statement said Treasury would provide the necessary resources for the implementation of the exercise which is expected to culminate in a clean payroll at the Salary Service Bureau.
