THE Public Service Commission (PSC) has started a new initiative that will offer industrial attachments to students in tertiary institutions.
The programme is aimed at supporting the Education 5.0 policy introduced by the Government, which is intended to ensure that graduates are fit for purpose in their professional fields.
It is intended to develop the intellectual and practical skills of students while also giving them the experiential knowledge needed to succeed in a workplace environment.
Applicants will require a police clearance and those who qualify will receive a nominal support stipend.
The attachment programme will be subjected to bi-annual evaluation to confirm programme objectives are achieved.
In a statement, PSC secretary, Dr Tsitsi Choruma, said applicants need an introductory letter from a recognised university or college, as well as results for previous semesters and CV with contactable referees.
“Applicants will undergo a standard selection process, which includes police clearance, to exclude any candidates who may have criminal records,” she said.
Participants shall be allocated a supervisor and/or counterpart, who will work with them throughout the period of attachment.
