Churches should be genuine and stick to the mandate of their business. It boggles the mind how pseudo churches under the banner of Zimbabwe Divine Destiny (ZDD), immorally call for an unconstitutional removal of a Head of State, President Mugabe, who was lawfully elected by the people of Zimbabwe in 2013.
The same pseudo churches have also been calling for the mounting of illegal demonstrations by opposition forces.
A little known preacher, Ancelimo Magaya, is imprudently calling for a transitional authority to lead the country’s business awaiting fresh elections.
Surely, church leaders must not incite the public. They should be attached to church business instead of causing commotion in a peaceful nation like Zimbabwe.
In the Bible, Romans 13 verse 1-2 reads: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power, but of God.
The powers that be are ordained of God. Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves . . .”
Who then is Magaya to challenge the leadership of President Mugabe, who was constitutionally elected by the people and got the authority to lead the nation by God? It means these churches are not genuine.
Real churches do not oppose the Bible. In fact, they support and abide by what the Bible says. These clergymen should go back and revise the Bible before foolishly calling for President Mugabe to step down.
What makes the matter of their call even worse is that these clergymen and their churches are not only disrespecting the Bible, but they are also going against the Constitution of Zimbabwe.
The law stipulates that a leader is chosen through the ballot box. President Mugabe won the 2013 elections, resoundingly, implying that he still has the constitutional mandate to lead this nation until his constitutional term is over. Magaya and ZDD must be guided by the Constitution instead of disregarding the rule of law.
Real churches will not conceal their church identities under the name Zimbabwe Divine Destiny, but must come out and air out their views. Truth be told, ZDD does not represent all churches in Zimbabwe. ZDD might be an emerging opposition political party consisting of opposition members who are attempting to unconstitutionally remove President Mugabe from power.
Reports have it that the ZDD leader has been working tirelessly on uniting opposition political forces in the country. Surely, how can church representatives work in cahoots with opposition forces? What really is the role of church in politics? I believe churches should pray for divine intervention for the betterment of our beloved country.
Hence, church leaders should leave politics to politicians.
What is even surprising is that only a single person, Magaya, is being mentioned as ZDD.
Surely, the kind of journalism where only an individual is quoted then the nation is misled that ‘churches’ have said this and that while it’s one man’s mind should be stopped.
Journalists should be objective when writing articles especially for public consumption.
ZDD is just like other hooligans who are protesting on the streets for no apparent reasons. Useless demonstrations and stay-aways are economic sabotage.
People must resist being fooled by these pseudo churches.
How can one call for the removal of a constitutionally elected President? The act by Magaya and ZDD shows that they have nothing to offer the people of Zimbabwe other than inciting innocent, peace loving citizens.
Genuine churches do not incite people to infringe on other people’s businesses.
Real churches believe that dialogue provides solutions towards resolving the challenges that currently face the majority.
Also, opposition forces should be warned against acts of violence that destabilise the nation. How can MDC-T, which has aspirations of leading this nation join hands with protesters in derailing the activities on nation building?
