THERE will not be any review downwards of fines that Premier Soccer League clubs have been paying, it has been confirmed. Clubs in the league went ballistic at the end of the 2013 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League upon receiving astronomical bills as a result of their fans’ wayward behaviour during the season with league winners Dynamos the hardest hit.
DeMbare were handed a $65,000 bill, a shocking figure from the meagre sponsorship package. In recent years, the PSL has deducted money owed to them from the clubs’ end of season winning purse.
PSL chief executive officer Ndebele told Chronicle Sport that clubs would have to come up with a payment plan because the money was needed.
“We will not garnish prizes but clubs will have to come up with a payment plan because the bills will not be written off as it was suggested, all clubs must make a plan to foot their bills,” said Ndebele.
He added: “Payment plans should include first instalments, that one is not negotiable,” said the veteran administrator.
Cash-strapped Bulawayo giants Highlanders are behind Dynamos on the fines table contributing $26,550 to the PSL.
The Green Machine, Caps United who are also reeling from financial challenges like most clubs, were fined $22,000. Relegated Black Mambas are fourth with $14,000 fine followed by Hwange who are on $9,500.
Ndebele said they will deduct full payment from relegated clubs and if ever there are differences, they will send to the respective regions.
