Twine Phiri, the PSL boss said the management committee members endorsed the deal.
They felt it was the beginning of an exciting period for Zimbabwean football.
“I am happy the television rights deal has been clinched. It’s the beginning of a new challenge and we are confident football will benefit,” he said.
Phiri said some board members who skeptical of the deal, now appreciated what football was set to benefit.
“Once they were at the meeting and advised how we had proceeded with negotiations up to the time of signing last week, they congratulated us for a job well done” said Phiri.
Under the agreement the television station will pay PSL $120 000 for the last round of matches.
Phiri said the money would be split equally among clubs.
Next year the league will get $400 000 with the figure expected to increase by seven percent annually from 2014 up to 2017.
Phiri said he was happy that clubs would at least get something to cushion them.
“Clubs are now brands that are marketed outside our borders.
“With such television rights, we hope companies will see sense in sponsoring clubs and advertise through uniforms, replica jerseys and billboards at our matches.
“It is a good platform for companies to get mileage.
“Our players will now be watched all over the world and we hope Zimbabweans can support Supersport through buying decoders from Multichoice so that they watch their favourite clubs and players in action,” said Phiri.
In the same interview Phiri said the league would meet on 29 September to review progress in the first half of the season and approve the budget for the next three months.
“We resolved that we have an assembly meeting on 29 September. Our clubs need to know how things are going from source and not speculation.
“We would like to hear their views too,” said the PSL boss.
Phiri said he was hopeful that the league programme would continue to run smoothly despite mid week games necessitated by two tournaments.
Mbada Holdings have already conducted their draw for matches to kick off this weekend while a second tournament is expected to be unveiled in the next week.
