THE Premier Soccer League have introduced the EcoCash platform as a method of payment for the Castle Lager Premiership matches starting with tomorrow’s high-profile between former champions Chicken Inn and Dynamos at Barbourfields.
The league successfully introduced the Point of Sale at the start of the season.
The trial run will be tomorrow’s match between Chicken Inn and Dynamos at Barbourfields. The match has generated a lot of interest and the hosts have since hiked gate charges. The cheapest ticket has been increased to $5 from the usually $3 while fans wishing to sit on the wings will have to pay $10 while those in the VIP section will have to part with $15.
In a brief statement, the league’s chief executive Kenny Mubaiwa said they were happy to bring convenience to the football family and will start with the big match before they introduce the platform to all other league matches.
The EcoCash service will be available at gates 4, 6, 9, 15 and 25.
Ndebele said “we have heeded the calls from football fans to adopt cashless payment methods and we are pleased to bring them the convenience of accessing football matches without having to wait in queues to withdraw money.
“The POS system proved to be a success and it is something we are going to continue with as we look for ways to enable easy access to the stadium and improve attendance figures owing to the current cash shortages.’’
The top-of-the-table clash for the two teams is an ultimate test for both sides.
Rahman Gumbo’s Gamecocks have been picking points and his charges, with 28 points, are in a commanding fourth position. Second-placed Dynamos will be hoping for a third straight win under assistant coach Biggie Zuze in the absence of head coach Lloyd Mutasa who is on COSAFA duty in South Africa.
However, the Gamecocks are DeMbare’s bogey side and team manager Richard Chihoro has described tomorrow’s game as one of their most difficult matches. “Chicken Inn are always tricky customers. This team play their best football against Dynamos which clearly shows that they are our most difficult opponents.
“We have been following them and they are really playing fantastic football this season and they can challenge for the championship,” said Chihoro.
