adminThe PSL had initially said the league would be on a two-week break which began last weekend before having a change of heart and had this week arranged that some of the teams that do not have players in the Warriors squad could play on Saturday.
However, the league’s chief executive Kenny Ndebele yesterday issued a statement postponing the matches again “to allow the national team to prepare without disruptions.”
According to the fixtures which had been released, Dynamos with the least number of matches in the league and have three players in the squad were not going to play their match against Harare City while FC Platinum’s clash against Quelaton had also been postponed.
CAPS United, who were supposed to be away to Hardbody in Gweru this Saturday, would also have had their game postponed following the inclusion of David Sengu as their third player in the Warriors.
In the end the PSL chiefs decided against having a tructed programme and called off the matches they had planned across the country.
But for cash strapped clubs like Blue Rangers, the break has given them some breathing space in terms of footing the player’s daily bus fares to and from training.
The club, which is yet to win a match and has re engaged their former coach Misheck Chidzambwa have had a nightmarish start to the season.
Last week they parted ways with three of their senior players — Eddie Mashiri, Elliot Matsika and Tawanda Ushe over disciplinary issues.
Former Dynamos midfielder Mashiri is reported to have stopped training following the arrival of Chidzambwa while the duo of Matsika and Ushe who are reported to be club hunting in Mozambique left without informing the Blue Ranmgers authorities and have since been granted free transfer letters.
This afternoon Blue Rangers are expected to unveil their new sponsorship partnership deal with Munya Maraire of World Wide Scholarships.
