THE Premier Soccer League have referred the FC Hunters ownership dispute to ZIFA.
The top-flight league said this move followed receipt of two conflicting letters from the club amid reports last night that the franchise has been acquired by N’ombeyaora.
Last night, sources indicated that N’ombeyaora coach, Nesbert “Yabo” Saruchera, has signed a two-year deal at the club and the arrangement is that he will be coaching the club in the Premiership this season.
PSL CEO Rodwell Thabe confirmed the league have one letter indicating a name change to Harare City.
Another letter indicates otherwise.
“I can confirm we have two letters from FC Hunters noting a name change to Harare City and another one that is notifying us of an executive change.
“But the two letters are conflicting.
“So, this issue is a club licensing issue and we have referred the issue to ZIFA,” said Thabe.
The dispute is linked to an alleged breach of contract involving the sale of the FC Hunters franchise.
Harare City are understood to have negotiated a US$600,000 takeover agreement with the Marondera-based side.
However, sources close to the negotiations claim the deal was later overtaken by a separate arrangement involving N’ombeyawora.
They are said to have made an initial payment of US$250,000 to FC Hunters after Harare City delayed payment.
Harare City, according to sources, insist their agreement remains valid.
Sources say N’ombeyawora entered the market for a top-flight league franchise and approached FC Hunters.
