PSL SENDS NGEZI PLATINUM STARS COACH FOR ANGER LESSONS! Heavy fines for violence…

B-Metro Reporter

THE Premier Soccer League has ordered Ngezi Platinum Stars head coach Takesure Chiragwi to undergo anger management lessons after he was found guilty of violent and disorderly conduct during the league match against Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on 4 October.

Chiragwi, who admitted to the charges, was fined US$4 000, with US$1000 suspended on condition that he completes anger management training with an organisation approved by the PSL. The ruling comes after the Disciplinary Committee highlighted behaviour likely to bring the League into disrepute.

In its judgment, the Committee said it took into account Chiragwi’s public apology to the player involved, the League and all stakeholders. They also noted his clear remorse, accountability and the swift internal disciplinary action taken by Ngezi Platinum Stars. His earlier suspension from club duties and his voluntary decision to step down as Warriors assistant coach during the recent World Cup qualifiers were also considered.

The hammer did not fall on the coach alone. Ngezi Platinum Stars were found guilty of disturbing the normal proceedings of the game and improper conduct by their players and technical team. The club was fined US$5 000.
Defender Kudzai Chigwida was also punished after being found guilty of ungentlemanly conduct and improper utterances directed at a match official. He was fined US$100.

The PSL says the sanctions are meant to safeguard the integrity of the League and send a clear message that violent behaviour and disrespect for match officials will not be tolerated.
