THE Premier Soccer League (PSL) has taken another step towards enhancing player welfare by conducting a Sports Medicine Webinar for club doctors, physiotherapists and other medical personnel.
The webinar, held on Monday, seeks to strengthen emergency medical response in football through the continuous education and development of healthcare professionals attached to clubs.
In a statement, the PSL said: “The webinar is focused on strengthening emergency medical response in football by enhancing participants’ understanding of the FIFA approach to emergency care, improving the recognition and management of sudden cardiac arrest and equipping medical teams with the knowledge to effectively handle common sports trauma emergencies.”
Sudden cardiac arrest remains one of the most serious medical emergencies in sport, making the ability of medical teams to identify and respond promptly to such incidents crucial.
The league said the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to raising healthcare standards within domestic football.
“The initiative reflects the PSL’s continued commitment to player welfare and safety, professional development of medical personnel and the promotion of best practices in sports healthcare across the league,” read part of the statement.
Through such programmes, the PSL continues to encourage the adoption of internationally recognised medical protocols while ensuring that those entrusted with the health and wellbeing of players are equipped to provide effective emergency care whenever required.
