THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League’s youngest clubs — Scottland, Simba Bhora and MWOS — are tipped to continue dominating when the domestic game resumes this weekend after the FIFA international break.

It has fizzled down to a three-horse race with just four games remaining.

And none of the trio of clubs has more than three years experience with the Premiership game.

Former champions Ngezi Platinum Stars are rank outsiders and the Mhondoro outfit would have to pay for a calamitous collapse of Scottland, Simba Bhora and MWOS for them to add to their 2023 title.

Scottland seized full control of the race just before the FIFA break after recovering from a mini-slump that saw them losing to Dynamos and settling for a draw against Simba Bhora at Wadzanayi.

Prior to that, they had stitched together a seven-match winning streak to boost their credentials.

Wins over relegation fighters Manica Diamonds and Chicken Inn have since brought them back on top with a three-point cushion and a healthy goal difference of 21.

Scottland host MWOS in a big game at Rufaro on Saturday. They need to win this match to eliminate Lloyd Mutasa’s men from the title equation.

After dating MWOS, Scottland will travel to relegated Kwekwe United.

They will also have a tricky home assignment against Rodwell Dhlakama’s GreenFuel who are fighting for their Premiership survival before rounding off with an away assignment at TelOne.

“Scottland have been consistent of late and if they can maintain that form, I don’t see them bottling it. They have a strong squad, with experience,” said football coach and analyst Bhekimpilo Nyoni.

Defending champions Simba Bhora have learnt the hard way in their last four league games which they failed to win.

Just last month, they were leading the race with a one-point advantage but they now find themselves three behind Scottland following a run of three draws and a defeat to relegation fighters, CAPS United. Although Simba Bhora are still strongly in contention, the Shamva side appear to have hit a slump at the wrong time.

They have not only failed to win in their last four league games, but have also not scored a single goal in that period.

Ngezi Platinum Stars will give them a big test this weekend away at Baobab.

MWOS face a tricky road in the remainder of the campaign with match-ups against relegation fighters Highlanders (home), Bikita Minerals (away) and Yadah Stars at Ngoni.

While the PSL’s “Young Turks” are battling for honours, traditional giants — Dynamos, Highlanders and CAPS united have been pushed into the shade as the battle against the drop.
