Publicity association needs funding

In an interview, she said the association depended on the goodwill of donors and had not yet got the money due to the prevailing economic environment in the country.
“Commerce, industry and tourism are virtually struggling to keep going so they have very little money to give as large donations to associations,” she said.
Mrs Bell said despite the financial squeeze faced by donors, some had helped improve the association’s offices by donating paint, plants and flowers while another paid for Internet broadband.

“We are trying our best to promote Bulawayo and we have a website.
“We constantly invite our members to give information and pictures to put on our website free of charge.

“We will be making a DVD of this area that may include Hwange and Victoria Falls and it may be out by September,” she said.
Mrs Bell said their contacts from overseas said the DVD would be a good marketing tool to promote Bulawayo and its environs.

She said they had invited National Geographic Television to come and film the Matopos for a documentary to be screened on its channel.
Mrs Bell said a Brazilian writer and photographer, who was in the  country recently and had contacts with the media in Brazil and the United       States, had offered to promote the association.
