Puel has a ‘little regret’ after Anfield stalemate

Cape Town — Leicester City manager Claude Puel rued his team’s missed opportunities as the Foxes played to a 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday.

The hosts took the lead as early as the second minute when Sadio Mane scored but Leicester remained composed and found the equaliser on the stroke of half-time through Harry Maguire.

The visitors then had some good chances early after the interval to go ahead but were kept out while they also kept out the dangerous attack of Liverpool to force a stalemate.

Although the point saw the Foxes end a run of three successive defeats, Puel still had “a little regret” at the final scoreline but in the end accepted the draw.

Puel said after the game: “I think it is a good performance. I have a little regret at the end because we had some fantastic chances at the beginning of the second half. We started slowly and conceded a goal but after we showed fantastic character and personality.

“We put them under pressure at the beginning of the second half and in this period, we have to be more clinical.”

Leicester are next in action on Sunday when they host Manchester United at the King Power Stadium. — Sport24.
