THE annual Pumula Royal Arts and Community Awards (Praca) are set to return for their sixth edition, with a three-day celebration of excellence in arts, culture and community development.
Scheduled to take place from December 18 to 20, this year’s event will be hosted by Home of Arts Entertainment under the theme: “Transforming Communities: Amplifying Youth Voices, Accelerating Change through Arts and Youth Creative Engagement.”
The event aims to shine a spotlight on the vibrant arts and culture scene in Pumula — a suburb in Bulawayo — and surrounding communities, honouring individuals and organisations making remarkable contributions through creativity, innovation and service.
Happy Mpofu, Executive Director of Home of Arts Entertainment, said Praca is more than just an awards show — it is a movement.
“This year’s theme reminds us that the arts are not just for expression but for transformation,” he said.
Over the course of three days, Mpofu noted that attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities, showcasing the best of Zimbabwe’s artistic talent.
The event will commence on December 18, with a dynamic day dedicated to empowering the youth through business, music and cultural expression.
“The Youth in Arts and Business Indaba, Zimbabwe Key to the City Festival, and roadshow will offer networking opportunities, workshops and live performances to energise the creative community.”
On December 19, the focus will shift to an exclusive evening of fine dining, meaningful dialogue and appreciation for the stakeholders and nominees, who drive community impact, at the Nominees, Stakeholders and Partners Dinner.
The grand finale on December 20, will celebrate and honour outstanding individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence in arts, culture and community work at the main awards ceremony.
Although the venues are yet to be announced, one thing is certain — this year’s edition promises to be an unforgettable experience, surpassing previous events.
Traditionally held at Pumula North Hall, the awards have consistently recognised emerging talent for their contributions to civic duty, artistic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit. — @MbuleloMpofu
