Pure Oil Investments loses $11k in theft scam

Two Harare men who connived to steal from Pure Oil Investments Harare were last week arraigned before the court for taking away various goods worth $11 000.Samson Tafura (29) and Webster Marufu (41) appeared before Mbare magistrate Ms Anita Tshuma charged with unlawful entry into the firm’s premises.

They were remanded to May 20 for trial.

Prosecutor Mirira Mavhima alleged that between April last year to April 28 this year, Tafura acting in connivance with Marufu, hatched a plan to steal from Pure Oil Investment.

In pursuant to their plan, they broke a window on a storeroom at the firm to gain entry.

They allegedly stole small and heavy welding machines and eight industrial scales, among other goods, using the same modus operandi.

Goods worth $10 200 were recovered from them.
