Purple Pride Family successfully recorded a live DVD of their second album, “Proclaiming His Name: Psalm 68:34”, at Courteney Selous Primary School in Greendale over the weekend.More than 350 people from different churches and Christian organisations converged on the school to witness and be part of the musical.
The group’s choir director, Albert Mtengwa (24), was impressed by the achievement although he admitted it was a challenging task.
“Everything about the live concert was perfect thanks to the intensive preparatory measures of the choir and band as a whole.
“It was a huge challenge for all of us as it was our first time. The response from people who came through was overwhelming because we expected only 200 people to come through,” he said.
The eight-track album comprises of praise and worship songs that were composed by the group.
With the help of Revival Studio, the group managed to record live sound that will be used in their second album due for launch in September.
Among the guests was ZimPraise’s Lloyd Tevedzai, who also thrilled the audience with a performance of songs from his second album.
Purple Pride Family is a non-profit ministry dedicated to worship evangelism. It is an interdenominational group of talented gospel artistes that brings God’s message of hope around the world through concerts and teachings.
The group has been together for 15 months but continues to register success.
Next month, the gospel choir will be touring the United Kingdom, before wrapping up the year with a charity event dubbed “Christmas of love and worship”.
