Pursue theological education, church leaders told

H-Metro Reporter

DOMBOSHAVA Theological College principal, Dr Roy Musasiwa, has called for church leaders to undertake theological education to ensure the integrity of the church.

The call came during the college’s graduation ceremony for a Diploma in Pastoral Services.

The graduation was presided over by local clergy, Bishop Jeff, of the Tabernacle of Worship Family Ministries International.

The college is an affiliate of Africa University and Zimbabwe Open University.

With Zimbabwe being a predominantly Christian country, many churches have opened that have questionable teachings, and Musasiwa believes that theological education is essential to counter these potentially harmful beliefs.

He argued that individuals who graduate from such institutions are ready to lead positive change within society and that education is no contradiction to being led by the Holy Spirit.

With Zimbabwe largely a Christian nation, a number of churches have been sprouting, and some of their teachings are questionable.

“It means they are ready to be deployed to the world to make a difference outside there. They are now commencing ministry, and we are deploying them in society to become change agents.

“This is very important as everything rises or falls on leadership. There are some people who believe theological education is not important, but I will tell you that is the reason why we have aberrations within the church of God.

“This is the reason we have other people, for example, stepping on other people, giving others sewage water to drink, and all other kinds of aberrations,” he said.

He said there is no contradiction between being led by the Holy Spirit and education, adding that the Apostle Paul, who wrote a number of books in the New Testament, was educated and it explains the reason he had impact.

“Both of these are required. You need educational profundity in theology.”
