Zimbabweans have been exhorted to put aside their political differences and rally behind President Mnangagwa for the country to continue with economic recovery that was ushered by the advent of the Second Republic in November last year.
Zanu-PF Masvingo provincial chairman Cde Ezra Chadzamira said it was time Zimbabweans harnessed their collective energies and back President Mnangagwa to fulfil his vision of a middle-income Zimbabwe by 2030.
Addressing Zanu-PF structures during a ruling party inter-district meeting at Jerera Growth Point on Tuesday, Cde Chadzamira said it was time Zimbabweans worked together irrespective of political affiliation.
“Zimbabweans should find a common ground by working together for progress, prosperity and survival of the country,” he said. “In his inauguration speech at the National Sports Stadium last weekend, President Mnangagwa emphasised the need for unity and working together for the nation to overcome its economic challenges.
“I am making a similar appeal to you, this is the dawn of a new era, let’s work together as a nation, with sincerity and solidarity as a proud people of one nation.”
Cde Chadzamira warned party members to be wary of divisions caused by sensational and fake social media reports based on speculation.
He said the capacity crowd that witnessed President Mnangagwa’s inauguration send a bold and clear statement to the world that the country was united behind its newly-elected President.
“Youths should shun social media abuse and stop creating false stories that harm national cohesion and spark conflicts that jeopardise our country’s peace and stability,” said Cde Chadzamira.
He challenged youths to be patriotic and work for prosperity under the country’s Second Republic spearheaded by President Mnangagwa.
Cde Chadzamira emphasized the importance of peace as the bedrock of economic growth, saying youths should seize opportunities engendered by the new dispensation to transform their lives.
“I say to our people, yes, the journey to Canaan was long, the suffering was intense, but we have finally reached the Promised Land,” he said.
“We have our legacy as a nation and let us teach the young generation about our country’s history and the importance of being masters of our own destiny.”
Cde Chadzamira welcomed the gesture by ex-president Mr Robert Mugabe who sent a congratulatory message to President Mnangagwa through her daughter Mrs Bona Chikore, who graced the inauguration ceremony last Sunday.
Turning to newly-elected Zanu-PF Members of Parliament, Cde Chadzamira reminded them on the importance of fulfilling their election promises to the people.
He underscored the need to shun factionalism, saying the ruling party was now prioritising business ahead of politics under President Mnangagwa’s administration.
