Queen Elizabeth Girls High School Zimpapers Junior Media Club recently hosted a farewell party for members who are set to leave the institution.
The event was held at the school’s pavilion on October 12.
Zimpapers launched the club early this year. More members were later recruited and several workshops held.
Most of the articles were written by Upper Sixth learners.
Although they did not get much time to run the club, they helped in laying a firm foundation. As they leave school, they are passing on the baton to their successors.
The event was attended by two teachers-in-charge, Ms Moreblessing Zoraunye and Mrs Lydia Mugiyo — outgoing and incoming leaders — and the rest of the club members.
Games, music and speeches punctuated the event, where snacks were served.
The new leaders took their oaths of office.
The event ended with the Upper Sixth learners receiving some gifts from the club, and having a photoshoot moment.
This was an amazing day for the club members.
The event strengthened the club, provided a sisterhood moment and marked the beginning of a new chapter for the members.
Shammah Tayengwa is an Upper Sixth learner at Queen Elizabeth Girls High School.
