ZIMBABWE Prisons and Correctional Services netball team Tenax Queens continues to dominate in the highly competitive National Super League as they demolished Support Unit 55- 13 last weekend.
Tenax Queens seems to be unstoppable as they have managed to win 13 of their 14 matches they have played this season. They are geared up to finish on top of the log unlike last season where they finished sitting on third position.
In their pipe-opener encounter, the Naftali Nyanguru-coached side displayed a superb performance and demolished hosts, Rhinos Queens 70-24 in Harare.
They went on to beat Mutare Poly 80-14 at home, Fellow prison girls Khami Prisons 39-31 and ZRP Gweru 52-19.Tenax then fell 28-34 to Nehanda, but managed to beat Jumbo Queens 59-28.
In their seventh match, they won 77-17 against Glow Petroleum, 60-14 against Warthog and handed Waru Waru a 43-26 defeat. Tenax played against ZPC Kariba and overpowered it by 54-28 before thrashing Stanbic 31-27. They then beat Beta 49-27 and Air Force 47-32.
Nyanguru is a happy man though his side is currently occupying third position on the log standings where Nehanda is on top.
“I am so happy with the team’s performance and I hope they will keep the standard and continues to win,” said the youthful gaffer.
Tenax in their campaign have proved that experience matters as they have been in the Super League for a decade now.
“Prison Girls” comprises of big names such as Chipo Mavhevhedze, Edzai Nkosana and Tafadzwa Mavango who have featured for the national team. Mavhevhedze and Nkosana played in the Africans Championships in Malawi last year while Mavhango featured in the National Under-20 team in South Africa. Nyanguru praised his side for collecting maximum points.
“The girls are playing very well. The race is still on and we are fighting hard to be able to win,” said the gaffer. This weekend we are hosting Mambas Queens from Harare and we hope to come out victors,” he added.
