The club, promoted to the elite league at the beginning of the year, believes some clubs are being treated with kid gloves.
Their complaint comes in the wake of the club’s match against FC Platinum having been called off because the club has two players and a coach in the national team.
Premier Soccer League rules and regulations stipulate that a match can be cancelled if a team has more than two players in national teams.
The platinum miners have Charles Sibanda and attacking midfielder Welcome Ndiweni in the national team coached by their gaffer Rahman Gumbo.
James Rugwevera, the Quelaton chairman, said it was not fair for the league to postpone the match just for the sake of the coach Gumbo to be available. He said it was clear what rules and regulations say.
“This is not good at all, it’s not how things should be run. This appears to be clear favouritism for certain clubs in the league. We ought to be treated as equals. There is no big brother or small club when it comes to the interpretation and application of rules.
“It is clear that only three or more players called up to the national team can cause the cancellation of a match,” said Rugwevera.
On Tuesday PSL chief executive officer Kennedy Ndebele said the administration at times uses its discretion on such issues.
When three players are called up to the national team, they represent an insignificant fraction of the full squad which is 10 percent while a coach’s absence represents a fraction of the technical team.
Some teams have a coach and an assistant representing between 25-50 percent of the bench.
However the league’s position did not impress Quelaton who had initially been set to play FC Platinum this weekend.
“Our cry is for justice in the application of rules and regulations,” said the PSL newcomers’ chairman.
Rugwevera said his team, which was fined $5 000 for using a player with a red card, was not happy with light sentences other clubs were getting for what he described as worse off offences.
“Some clubs get involved in violence, they get a suspended sentence but when you look at the gravity of the offence it deserves more, people’s lives would be at risk and the game is brought into disrepute,” fumed Rugwevera.
Caps were fined $6 000 for their part in the abandonment of their match against Chicken Inn on 7 April. Of the sum, $2 000 was suspended leaving the club to pay $4 000.
The PSL has since called off all the matches that were scheduled for this weekend.
Ndebele said the PSL wanted Warriors’ preparations to go ahead without any disturbances.
But a ticking bomb lies ahead with a congested international programme featuring the Warriors and Dynamos’ Confederation Cup campaign where they could play in excess of eight matches if they qualify to the mini league stage.
This could force the PSL to stage mid week games to avoid the season encroaching into 2013.
Last year the league was over by 26 November after Ndebele’s good start to his tenure as PSL chief executive officer.
Politicking within the PSL corridors could however affect the smooth running of the league.
