GAFFNEY, South Carolina. — Coming off the single greatest season in programme history, Limestone College’s field hockey team earned another major recognition as junior attack Rachel Goromonzi from Zimbabwe picked up her second consecutive National Field Hockey Coaches Association First-Team All-American honour. She is the only player in programme history to be named an NFHCA All-American.
“Rachel’s skills and ability naturally earn her the wonderful accolades of being a First-Team All-American,” said head coach Lindsay Jackson. “We are very proud of her and she represents the programme well.”

After becoming the first player in team history to be so honoured last season, Goromonzi erupted and produced an even better campaign in 2013. This season she started in all 20 games, scoring 24 goals and finishing with 50 points, both single season program records. During the campaign, she also became the Saints career leader in both categories while scoring in 13 of her 20 games.

Opposing teams couldn’t keep her off the scoreboard as she scored in five straight games at one point and was held without a point in consecutive games only once.

Nationally, her 1.2 goals per game ranked third in Division II while her 2.5 points per game was fifth. This year she was also named the Independent Schools Alliance Offensive Player of the Year, collecting that honour for the second straight season, ISA All-Conference

First-Team and was a First-Team All-ECAC Tournament selection. Goromonzi also earned ISA Offensive Player of the Week twice, doing so in consecutive weeks on September 24 and October 1.
