A BULAWAYO man went berserk and turned his father’s home into a demolition site — smashing everything in sight and threatening to kill his own father in a drunken fit of rage!
Juvenile Goredema (24) appeared before magistrate Evelyn Madzikatire, facing a charge of malicious damage to property, after unleashing a violent rampage at the family home.
He pleaded guilty and was slapped with a 24-month prison sentence, with 12 months suspended. He will serve an effective one year behind bars.
The courtroom heard that on 11 April 2025, around 7PM, Goredema’s 69-year-old father Joel Goredema returned to their home near JMN Nkomo and Masotsha Avenue — only to find his son heavily intoxicated and unhinged.
When the elderly man tried to talk to him, things took a terrifying turn.Juvenile exploded in a fit of fury, smashing a fridge, door, kitchen unit and chairs — using his bare hands and an unidentified object.
The house was left looking like a cyclone had hit it!
But the real shock came when the young man allegedly threatened to kill his father, forcing the terrified pensioner to flee and seek help from the police.
“I was drunk and not in control of myself,” Juvenile said in court, visibly remorseful as he apologised to his father.
The magistrate suspended six months of the sentence on condition he pays restitution.
