Rahman Gumbo signs for Morupule Wanderers

BOTSWANA based Zimbabwean football coach, Rahman Gumbo has found a new home in the neighbouring country after he signed for Morupule Wanderers Football Club who play in the Botswana Premier League.

Gumbo was at the beginning of last month shown the exit door by Sua Flamingoes after failing to bring in the desired results. At Morupule Wanderers, he succeeds Daniel Chicco Nare who was fired at the same time the Zimbabwean was sacked by Sua Flamingoes.

In a statement released yesterday, the Palapye based club said they have belief that Gumbo can deliver on his mandate and offered the former Highlanders coach their utmost support.

“This communiqué serves to announce that Morupule Wanderers Football Club has appointed Mr FC Rahman Gumbo to a position of Club Head-Coach subject to work visa requirements. Mr Gumbo has joined Bafana Ba Magala on a two-year contract.

He has a wealth of coaching skills in football that is booed by many accolades in Botswana, in his home country of Zimbabwe and abroad.

The club believes Mr Gumbo to be the right Head Coach who can deliver on its mandate, and its ambitions to compete at the high echelons of the domestic league.

We pledge our outmost support to Mr Rahman Gumbo and expect the same support from our supporters, stakeholders and well-wishers. We wish the Head Coach a fruitful and exciting stay at Bafana Ba Magala,’’ read the statement from Morupule Wanderers.

Gumbo finds his new team eighth on the 16-team log with 11 points. They have won three, drew two and lost four of the nine matches they have played so far this season. — @Mdawini_29
