HAVING graduated to the big boys club in 2011,A� Chicken Inn football club will at the end of June officially have Rahman Gumbo as the teama��s fifth coach to take charge.

B Metro Sport takes you through records Gumbo has to beat for him to be the teama��s great- after all, numbers dona��t lie.

The teama��s maiden premiership seasona��s charges were under Philani a�?Beefya�? Ncube.A� He led the team for 27 matches but was succeeded by his assistant, the late Adam Ndlovu for the remaining three league matches.

Chicken Inn finished eighth in their first season.

The following year, Ndlovu led the team to a powerful third finish, giving him an overall 33 matches in charge. With his untimely death, his assistant Mandla Mpofu got the job for the 2013 season.

Like Philani a�?Beefya�? Ncube, his tenure suffered a pre-term termination. Mpofu won the cluba��s first silverware- the Net One Cup. However, just after 25 matches the powers-that-be at Chicken Inn roped in Joey Antipas.

There was no change in 2014 as Antipas finished sixth, in the process becoming only the second coach after the late Adam to start and finish a season at Chicken Inn.

With the Chicken Inn executive keeping faith in Antipas, he surprised many by landing the league title last season.

He had a shot at the CAF championsa�� league against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.A� Despite winning at home and losing away in Pretoria- putting an end to his run at the CAF tournament- many believe it was his brave showing against Mamelodi Sundowns that earned him a job at AmaZulu, currently in South Africaa��s National First Division.

The longest serving coach at Chicken Inn, Antipas was a season shy of a century of league matches with the champions.

His cabinet is decorated- having won the 2016 Independence Cup final beating Highlanders 2-1 at the National Sports Stadium.

In his 70 league matches, Antipas won 34, drew 18 and also lost 18, giving him a success rate of 74 percent.

The late Ndlovu won 15 matches, drew 11 and lost seven in the 33 league matches he was in charge.

That gave him an overall success rate of 78 percent at the club.

Ncube, who is credited with bringing the team to topflight football, won eight matches, drew 12 and lost seven in his 27 matches in charge. His success rate stood at 74 percent.

Mpofu won 11, drew six and lost eight in his 25 matches in charge, giving him a success rate of 68 percent at the club.

Gumbo has the challenge to improve on the record of the four coaches. While at FC Platinum he was in charge of 31 matches between 2011 and 2012 and managed 17 wins, eight draws and six defeats, giving him a success rate of 81 percent.
