Bulawayo Province Netball Division One League team Railstars is ready to battle it out against defending champions Ntuthu Sparrows in a derby match set for Raylton Recreation Club today. Last season, Ntuthu Sparrows won the first round game 34-33 while the railway queens thrashed their opponents 42-33 in the return leg. Judith Mwemba, the chairperson of Railstars, confirmed that the team had trained hard and was looking forward to a win this afternoon.
“We are an experienced team and that gives us advantage over youthful sides like Ntuthu Sparrows. Some of our players have been in the Super League,” said Mwemba.
Railstars have been fighting to find their way back into the Netball Super League since 2012 when the National Railways of Zimbabwe stopped sponsoring them due to challenges facing the company.
Mwemba confirmed that the team had a better chance of progressing into the Super League and efforts to acquire a sponsor had been made.
