Rainbow Netball League crowns last season winners

THE country’s premier netball league, Rainbow Netball League (RANL) successfully held its fourth annual awards ceremony on Saturday in Bulawayo where last season’s champions, Glow Petroleum were the biggest winners on the night.

The champions, Glow Petroleum walked away with US$3 000 while runners up, Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) received US$2 000, medals and a trophy while third placed Correctional Queens took home US$1 200.

Team accolades were not the only ones handed out as high performing individuals who also excelled throughout the season were honoured for their hard work, including the RANL Netball Stars of the Season. All the winners walked away with cash prizes.
With the previous season featuring 14 teams, all the participants were awarded appearance tokens on the night. The event was graced by representatives from the Ministry of Sports, Youth, Arts and Recreation and also the Sports and Recreation Committee (SRC).

Bulawayo based side, Goldreef were named Most Disciplined team while legend Perpetua Siyachitema was voted Coach of the Year. Champions, Glow Petroleum players dominated the Team of the Year.
The 2023 season will start on February 4 as the netball fraternity will be preparing for the historic World Cup set for August in South Africa which will be the first event to be held in the continent.
