VICTORIA FALLS Panthers made it a clean sweep, thrashing Victoria Falls Suns 80–54 in their Matabeleland North Basketball League match at Chamabondo Primary School at the weekend.
The Panthers’ dominance was evident from the first whistle, as they outscored the Suns in every quarter.
The Suns were restricted to just six points in the first quarter, setting the tone for the remainder of the match. By halftime, the Panthers held a commanding 14-point lead at 36–22. They continued to widen the gap in the second half, winning every quarter and securing a convincing 26 point victory.
Victoria Falls Panthers now top the Matabeleland North Basketball League with 13 points from seven games, closely followed by Victoria Falls Suns, who sit on the same tally.
Hwange are placed third with 11 points, while Royals Eagles Academy complete the top four with eight points.
Matabeleland North Basketball chairman, Brighton Musaidzi, praised the league’s continued growth.
“So far so good, but we are still looking for support as some of our teams are struggling to meet the demands that come with fulfilling fixtures. All being said, the league is competitive, and teams are giving it their all. We’re proud of the progress so far.”
