SOGO Rangers are proving to be the untouchables of the National Premier League, smashing Alexandra Sports Club by eight wickets at Old Georgians on Wednesday to extend their unbeaten run to six matches.

Alex had come in as the other team yet to lose a game this season, but Rangers tore that record apart in ruthless fashion — skittling them out for a measly 112 in 20 overs before cruising to 114/2 in just 13.3 overs.

Returning youngster Benjamin Banks was the wrecking ball, grabbing 4/39 in eight overs, while Kuda Macheka backed him up with 3/40. Ethan Cunningham and Ryan Burl chipped in with a wicket apiece as Alex’s batters folded cheaply — Hamza Khan top scoring with just 17.
Rangers’ chase was clinical. Despite losing openers Nathaniel Hlabangana (16) and Tadiwanashe Marumani (12) early, Nick Welch (36*) and Dion Myers (33*) steadied the ship with an unbeaten 71-run stand that sealed the deal.

Elsewhere, former champs Gladiators reminded the league who they are by dismantling newcomers Chiredzi CC with a nine-wicket thumping. Newman Nyamhuri stole the spotlight, bagging a sensational 6/38 as Chiredzi were bowled out for 147. Gladiators then made a mockery of the chase, romping home in 11.4 overs thanks to Wessly Madhevere’s explosive unbeaten 72 off 38 balls.

In other fixtures, Amakhosi are chasing a daunting 293 against Takashinga 1 at Kwekwe Sports Club, while Queens are fighting to defend 184 against Westside at Masvingo Sports Club.
